    Hey ZOOK,

Didn't know that they were still going, I remember seeing one at a Syd LROC meeting and Neil Flower doing a product test on it back in the nineties.

Bit tall for my liking, I'm pretty sold on the Trackabouts ATM.

    my camper choice

I have a Jayco Hawk off road camper which I am happy with. A few negatives I have are:
    1) Bought it before the tow vehicle hence rim size and bolt pattern different to tow vehicle (too lazy and cheap to change)
    2) dust seal is next to nothing due to vents for door and fringe.( door vent fixed by duct tape plastic sheet)
3)have to open up to get to kitchen, but usually do not stop on side of road to boil kettle, that is what the thermos is for.
    What I like is:
    1) did not have purchase a fridge, one is built in
    2) hard top over head when raining, always under shelter for cooking
    3) easy to tow
    4) easy to set up

I have a Cavalier Deluxe Offroad and for the price are great. I have the 18ft version, which gives 18ft of floor space and a queen size bed on top of the trailer.

    Campers

We have a top made by Customline Camper Trailers at Beenleigh, fitted to an ex army trailer with aluminium tub custom made for me. Total cost around
$5500 by the time I'd built the kitchen and fitted the water tank. It's a 9 foot model which has heaps of room, as we only use the thing to sleep in. Agree, most of the Taj Mahals out there are so over the top, you'd be better off with a caravan.

I just can't believe that only 10 years ago (1996) we bought a brand new KK with then lot for just over $14K. I sure wish I had kept it now.

I ended up going for the Trackabout as it seemed pretty good value for money at about 11k all up. A workmate of the wifes has one and has not long completed a 3 month trip through the gulf and central Australia and was very happy with it so that finally sold me. I hope to pick it up this weekend or early next week so I can't say anything about it from personal experience yet.
Hi all i purchased a new kimberly karavan last year..We left melbourne, and headed for our trip. All through Kakadu the kimberlys, the gibb river road, all that area and then back down the Tamani, and not even a flat tyre..We have done many trips.the first camper was a dingo,ok if you like sleeping on a bed of dust,we have also had three K.K campers, not a problem with any of them,The only thing is i can say is thay are a little overpriced, but then you dont have to buy them do you.The karavan is bullet proof ond dust proof if you change/clean out the filter..cheers,Hendo2

i bought a Castle Camper from Cleveland 7 months ago and on the week-end finally got time to put it up. (will post photo's later) at Boonah.
its approx 17ft X 13ft with the annex up which can be enclosed with a floor. large tool box on the extended draw bar, kitchen on the tailgate with water tank under.
all up with 90% of the acc available it came in under $9k on-road.
i saw it at the off-road show at Cleveland showground early 2010, another outfit had something similar and wanted $26k
