Leaving Sunday week so 8 sleeps to go. I'm never doing something like again to a deadline - it's nearly killed me. Still a 100 things to do, but at least I can do that while enjoying it on the weekends and not worrying about a deadline.[/QUOTE]

    Looking good Gav.
    And remember 12 x 8 = 96,
So if you do 12 things every night you will almost have those 100 things you still have to do, done.

See you at the Swim In.

    Cheers, Mick.

One of those things is painting it - that will probably take more than an hour. Homestar's new home?

    Homestar's new home?

Cutting it fine now - rego Wednesday morning but it’s sitting on blocks waiting on new tyres now. Should have them tomorrow, so not much time for a last shakedown before taking it 45 minutes up the road to VicRoads. Still have an overheating brake - it was spinning freely but obviously still dragging too much. Have backed it right off and not fussed if the brakes aren’t 100% for the rego, I’ll fiddle with them later on.

(No, it’s not the hub, that’s running cool - heat starts from the drum face and works inwards)

Well, tomorrow is rego day! Because Vicroads didn't believe the Tare weight listed on their computer when I went to get a new R number for it (1,200Kg) they have asked for a weighbridge ticket. So, with new LT tyres fitted and the brakes backed off a bit more, I trundled down to the BP near me on the freeway that's got a public 24 hour weighbridge - only to find it gone....

So, next closest is 45 minute away.... Well, good shakedown run I suppose. Off I go - went down a dirt road to shorten the trip - pretty bad corrugations, so wanted to see how it went - all good apart from the top hinge o the door came adrift... oops... 😇

    Easy fix in the morning.

It towed really well - none of the issues I had originally - I've removed the AC at the back, and got a bit of weight in the front. Also I think thnew tyres are making a difference too as I couldn't get the flat spot off the car tyres previously even when I maxed out the pressure in them, but could never make them look more than 'a bit flat' but they were only rated at 400kg each and 35PSI so never going to cut it. The LT's are rated at around 600 each at 65PSI. Currently running 40, which which makes them nice and round - will play with the pressures and take some temps when I get a moment and fine tune this, but a good start.

So, I know you're all dying to know what it came in at.... I've added a known 200Kg in batteries and solar, but apart from that, removed a bit and added a bit, so take 200 off the figure below to get what it weighed to start with - roughly.

    And.....

1,480Kg with a jockey wheel weight of 160Kg so a measly 1,320Kg over the 2 axles. Van had full 9kg gas bottle, spare tyre, annex, floor mat, inner spring mattress, toilet with 15 litres of water in the tank, water tank about half full (as it leaks) so only clothes and food to add.

Hoping to get the Tare registered as that, but it depends on who I get tomorrow, but regardless, it won't matter to me. They may want to keep the tare at 1,200 and I'll negotiate the GTM.

So, we'll call the original weight 1,280...

With all our crap in it, I should think we'll just top 1,600 all in - that's only 200Kg more than the Franklin. 😊

Yeah, a bit lighter than I thought too, so pretty happy. Given it's got 4 x 100Ah batteries in it and 5 x 95 watt solar panels on the roof, not much more to add, so very pleased. 👍

    And REGISTERED!!!

Original tare weight on their computer was 1,200Kg. They were happy to make it 1,480Kg as per the weighbridge ticket and have the GTM 300Kg higher than that, so I'll never have it overloaded now. 👍😊

Only have bedding, clothes and food to put in it.

Still got a tonne to do, but all the major hurdles are sorted. 👍😊
