OUT WITH THE ROLUX, IN WITH THE 109!!

AT LAST!!!! On the road and registered first pass. Just had to go away for an hour to get reflectors and put a few spring washers in around the place.

Basically finished and passed the pits first time. All thats left to do now is final paint and add a sliding or swingaway rack for the Rola pod to make access just a bit easier!

    Thanks.
All I needed to do was trim off the door seal lips on both sides. This was a slight concern at first as there are panel overlaps and I wasnt sure if it was all going to fall apart on me! After attacking it with a metal sanding disc on my 9" grinder, there isnt a whole lot of material left, but I have 5mm rivets in there atm and I will be painting it soon, so rivets will come out, will braze the overlaps together with the original metal that was cut out and then braze the checkerplate back on properly so its all one with the panels, then spraypaint it.

OUT WITH THE ROLUX, THE BUILD CONTINUES....!!

After much deliberation, and purchasing a Waeco CF110 fridge that doesnt fit under the tarp which is due to my opinion of 'bigger is better' managed to get hold of a roof assy for the trailer. Just picked it up tonight.

Have some new work now deciding on whether or not to cut the cab roof section off and turn it into a hinged front lid, still hinge it and make it similar to a pop out extension with canvas bellows and make it dual purpose or leave it and make storage space out of it some how. The only downfall to the latter is that its going to limit its turnability as it almost took out by back pillar trying to reverse it up my drive !!

    Opinions wanted!!

    Cheers

Hard work, but cutting a middle section out to keep the arodynamics and asthetics in order would be best.
Is a SWB roof the correct size???,hard to find.

    Hey Bud
Taff is selling roof and sides off his 90' but not so sure it would fit or be cost effective. Was looking at it yesterday and found a relatively easy way to do it.
Basically going to cut the cab roof section uber cleanly just behind the first crossmember OR thru the braze that attaches it to the main roof structure and then shorten the roof by cutting out the equivalent length of the cab roof minus 15 or 20mm for overlap sealing as I don't have oxy gear to re braze the roof, nor is my ability to make the welds as perfect as original!!
I still have my old RRC tailgate sitting in the shed, so this may become the hatch for the front or a just get a lightweight ally one made some where.
