    Straightening a jockey wheel

Is there an easy way to straighten a jockey wheel? I bent mine lifting the trailer to take weight off the wheels during storage. It now only goes half way down. I'm worried I might snap it or bend it too far the other way.

It will depend a bit on the design of the jockey wheel - they vary a bit. But in general, my view would be that they are not possible to straighten effectively - once the main tube or the screw is bent, it is almost impossible to get them absolutely straight again, and to function properly they need to be.

    Replacement would be my view.

    Thanks John,

I pulled it apart today and measured it against a straight edge and it wasn't bent like I thought, but had a large burr on the inner piece. After filing the burr and cleaning, lubricating and reassembling it worked again.
