Question Caravan or Trailer Geometry Drawings

Went camping this week-end and had plenty of time to ponder the fact that there is really NO camper or caravan currently being manufactured that exactly suits my needs. Consequently I am toying with the idea of designing a uniquely different type of ultra compact, off-road caravan/camper myself.

Before I get too keen though, I was wondering if anyone out there had some CAD drawings of basic trailer or caravan chassis & running gear geometry they might be willing to email me (DWG format preferred). I need to be sure that my kooky idea is even possible without reinventing the wheel (or both wheels & axle as the case may be).

Please PM me if you can help.

Also struggling to find perfect set up. Have recently looked at the new Track Trailer Topaz. It's the Tvan's new big brother. I am very impressed with it. Just don't seem to be able to find 66 gorillas though.

Does not answer your query at all, but as it is a new release I was wondering if you had seen it.

Also looked at the Topaz but, as with all Track gear, it is just insanely priced. I have set a price ceiling of $20K for this build (and that's RRP I'm talking about - if it ever went into production). Any more than $20K makes a lot of small caravans look like smarter options.

    Hey slomanic

I have some dwg files of a camper I am developing. Not sure if it is what you are looking for though. These drawings are just some scale sketches I have been toying with. My unit is based on the complete campsites ularu, except I want to put an aluminium body on it. All I have designed is the sub frame as the ali body will be self supporting. Bear in mind these are rough sketches and I still don't know if my axel piont is in the right position. I can send you what I have, but treat it with caution as I need to do furthur refining.

    Dullbird,

This is a 3D sketch of an ex-army trailer chassis that I have done.

It's pretty close, down to the mm. If you want it just PM me your email and I can forward it onto you. You'll have to download sketchup (it's free) to view it in it's current format, or I can export it to a dwg file if neccessary.

    Matt.

p.s. you may be able to find other trailer drawings in the 3D warehouse here. Just search "trailer" or "camper trailer" and you should be able to find something.
