'91 v8 D1 on Gas

i got it at 254,000 with stripped LT77 output shaft / LT230 input gear
now has d2 r380 box and another d1 LT230
currently at 277,000 - though in between needed new welch plugs and head gaskets

this is a great thread, just bought a 97 disco 1, 275k on it. seems like it's just a baby. looking forward to learning from the masters here, and keeping her on the road for many years to come.

A couple from WA, have just brought my son's '97 V8 Discovery while they were holidaying here in Tasmania.

My trouble is, the spare rim that went with it, was on loan from me and the original matched rim to that D1 is still with my son.

The original alloys are the boost pattern, but the pattern of the rim I loaned him are a lot harder to find.

287,000 3.9 V8 Auto - 95 model. Purrs like a kitten with performance striker ignition (Dizzy, HEI Module - Holden/Ford) and their coil. Runs LPG and petrol.

Love it!

Got so much grunt I reckon she is good for another 100,000k easily.

PS. In truth I think the V8 will outlive my 02 D2...dont run as hot etc

I'm out of the running.

The 3.9L V8 is levitating in the garage this evening with the aid of a neighbour's engine crane. The rest of the Disco sits outside with 307,800km showing. Amazingly clean inside and the few lifters I pulled to check look miraculously well preserved.

Daughter is overseas at the moment and will be heading off to uni so the D1 is still my commuter. Bought it one owner 12months old with 30,000km. Now has 346,250km. I have had an intermittent speedo from time to time so I suspect the real number might be 360,000km but will only claim what I can see. Good on the real high scorers!! Oil and filter every 5k.

322,000kms on the D1 tdi, and still going strong
