Great work steve and thanks for your help with that sump question! I have a big favour to ask and that is can you please draw and take photos of your work you done on the charging system if you get time? You see I had quite a large electrical failure and all wires got melted now I am unsure where the wires from alternator to external regulator to battery connect even plug is melted that connects to the regulator so I need someone to help show me where each wire goes if that's possible ?

Mine isn't a factory setup so its probably going to confuse more than help you.
I didn't have an external regulator originally as the 200tdi that came out was internally regulated. I just took the alternator to an auto electrician and got him to test it and supply/wire up a regulator for it. I got it back with a small loom to the regulator, and only 2 wires to hook up. From memory - one to the IGN, and the other to the warning light.
Your best bet if you have a factory Isuzu setup would be to get hold of the LR Isuzu wiring diagram and work from that. I think its been posted here somewhere, but is also in one of the manuals on Inc's Isuzu CD from the shop.

I have found the diagrams in my army workshop manuals but even with these I am struggling to figure it out all I gotta try and figure out is how to wire up the regulator its so frustrating there's only 3 wires comming from the alternator but I can't tell where they should run to I probably should have got a different alternator ....

Post up a new thread with some piccy's of the alternator and regulator. There are plenty of people on here that are wizards with the auto-elec stuff so shouldn't take long to sort out.
