Well it should be going back together this weekend , I pick up the 6hp motor on wednesday

I have lots of pics for the tutorial and some filthy pics for matt (mat)

I might paint it aswell yet

Oh and for Slunnie the low mount will handle the 6hp motor , Ive been told by a warn service agent the low mount is a stonger winch than the highmount

The lowmount being a lower geared winch than the highmount

    Excellent, thanks for this Rangieman.

Can I also ask a small favour.... Would you please be able to tell me the difference in length between the 6hp and the 4.5hp motors. I'd love to upgrade the motor in my winch but I'm not sure if the chassis will allow the fitment - possibly I might be able to flip the winch upside down though.

Interestingly, I was out with Tusker yesterday who has just fitted a 6hp to his Highmount.... OMG, compared to what we're used to - it positively screamed!
    Cheers

Well i checked the length before i went down this road and im told the 6hp is 50mm longer than the 4.6hp , Im also told if room is at a premium you can fit your old end cap off the 4.6 onto the 6hp to save a bit of room

Ahhh, thats interesting. Thanks for this. I wonder what the difference comes down to after that.

That does mean then that if I flip the winch and install it like a 10,000lb that the motor will sit in the bar mount cutout.... I think. I'll have to check it all out.
    Cheers

Thanks for this Rangieman. I really wasnt expecting you to pull your winch motor apart though. Thank you though!
