    LT95 standard to tapered roller

Well, my brother borrowed the 120, to tow his falcon here as he's moveing house, he rang saying it shate itself, well after telling him which lever to pull he's on his way, but when he came back said it jumped out a few more times I figure I better fix it, knowing full well it'll be the thrust washers and needles on the intermediate set

I don't think a steel ruler end float is normal

Doesn't help that it had pumped all nut 1l from the transfer to the gearbag nor does it help I;ve never checked the oil in 20k

Well I'll stick the tapered roller gearset in I have in another box after lunch

The main culprit, the hard face has worn off and the shaft is worn, causing high gear to rock and spit out

    More damage

    Removed set

    Tapered roller set

    In the hole

    All in and test driven

Nope, very tight now...........apart from the play in the rear driveshaft slip joint

And aren't tapered roller sets soooooooooooo much easier to install than stupid needle rollers and those bloody shims

I take your work for it , haven't had much experience with either Matt , is there supposed to be a little bit of a play in the rear driveshaft slip joint ?

    Not this much

But seeing as I;ve never found a 120 to wreck, it'll be staying that way

A 1 owner 2 door I wrecked a few months back, the tranfer packed it in in the early 80's on him so got taperised

I was curious to see what it looked like, as he said it had outlasted 2 rover motors and 50k on the current one

    It's spotless

With standard set up mine would spit out the rear thrust washer,it was found in the botttom of the case looking more like a badly stretched c shape. On more than one occasion too,I put it down to towing a trailer around 800kg into relatively strong headwind for a couple of hrs with the supercharger made to work.
Since the tapered kit went in no problems in a couple of years so far,and less backlash aswell.
    Cheers Eric.

In my tray I was spitting them near every trip out, I gave up setting the end float correctly and just jammed them in

    Hp and abuse
