I find the Aussie board better than the 101 forum if nothing else...
The IIA FC with the 6B retains the roadrunner gear linkage, works well by all accounts, my mate who built it has promised I can have a go, but in the 2 years since it was finished I'm yet to get over there to visit, a paltry 100 mile journey.
I'd be interested to give a big Nissan a go, but they command ****ing stupid money over here, the last complete lump I saw sell (a 4.2 six from a patrol with all the conversion kit for an auto Rangie attached) went for a bargain basement £1200. Most of the time they're being sold by breakers who sell them minus ancillieries for similar money, plus another £500-600 by the time you add on a starter, alternator etc.
A scrap roadrunner can be picked up from £700, but can also pose the problem of shipping a dead truck a few hundred miles home.
Current temptation is a 4 litre Jaguar AJ6, but now I think about it I know where there's an old Land Cruiser with a 4.2 and manual box that hasn't moved for a while.
