I find the Aussie board better than the 101 forum if nothing else...

The IIA FC with the 6B retains the roadrunner gear linkage, works well by all accounts, my mate who built it has promised I can have a go, but in the 2 years since it was finished I'm yet to get over there to visit, a paltry 100 mile journey.

I'd be interested to give a big Nissan a go, but they command ****ing stupid money over here, the last complete lump I saw sell (a 4.2 six from a patrol with all the conversion kit for an auto Rangie attached) went for a bargain basement £1200. Most of the time they're being sold by breakers who sell them minus ancillieries for similar money, plus another £500-600 by the time you add on a starter, alternator etc.

A scrap roadrunner can be picked up from £700, but can also pose the problem of shipping a dead truck a few hundred miles home.

Current temptation is a 4 litre Jaguar AJ6, but now I think about it I know where there's an old Land Cruiser with a 4.2 and manual box that hasn't moved for a while.

    Don't do it cobber!

That engine struggled to move a Land Loser let alone a 101; absolutely gutless!

Yeah I'm with Chazza the Toyota 4.2 is a guttless slug! I've got a rotten $1500 GQ Patrol in the shed with a turboed TD42. This is my test bed for building up a tuned TD. Just opening the original pump up has made it lively! The guy who bought my 101 scrapped the 5.7 Nissan as he didn't know what it was and couldn't get parts!!!!

    Frankenstein is alive and well.

Mike that looks nearly as bad as the big one you have .

However the cab area looks quite good and if you got rid of the box on the back and that wheel carrier on the front it might be a good fixerupper. I think it is a bit pricey for what it is at the moment though.

I think this would be worth every bit of the 5000 being asked 101 club • View topic - 101 radio body

Surprisingly, I agree with you on all counts.
I'm just trying to find one for Sitec.

Nice work... I remember a discussion a while back with a bunch of people saying a 4BD1(T) wouldn't fit a 101... You have fitted the equivalent of a 6BD1(T)!!!

Nice work. I actually like the twin headlight look.

Yes and I was one of those but the comments were on the basis that the standard front suspension would not last in the long term and that no other major mods were made to the vehicle. I think that to get the engine in without major mods to the front of the vehicle the gearbox etc had to be moved back about 150mm and though I cannot find it at the moment I think different heavy duty suspension was installed but I am not sure.

One thing for sure - the 6bd mod with its associated mods seems to have worked well - if you did similar with a 4bd I think it would work as well.
