Did some digging!! Yup, you were on the money, it ended up on the 101 forum around Oct 09. A 101 forum user called 'rolly512' sold it to a guy in Bristol having chopped the roof down to a TC as he couldn't lift it off!! He said the engine blew up!! Pity they didn't look deeper for parts.. It was an FD6 5.7 litre straight 6, found in the older Nissan and International trucks here and Japan. Parts are still available and it was an awesome motor!! Sold for £2700.... Was looking tatty though. Here are some pics snapped off the forum!

And one more!! I even recognise my 'modified' box section linkage, where I mounted the gear lever to one of the engine lifting eyes! They also talk of it needing another High/Low lever and cable as I used the original for the overdrive. At least it's still providing fun even if it is lookin a little sorry for itself!! Have signed onto the 101 forum so will see if I can glean more info! Guess I'll give up on tracking it down and shipping it over if its back to a V8! The fuel bill used to be frightening. Should fly tho... I also fitted 4.7:1 Ser3 ring and pinnions!

I did try to buy the old engine from the guy when he was taking it out (was trying to get hold of an SD33 at the time) but the guy was adamant it was ****ed, and didn't seen over keen, and i didn't have much spare cash at the time, so I gave up.

Having found out what you've said about the engine I wish I'd tried harder now.

Still, good luck in finding another, if you're looking at trucks in the UK I might be able to help.

    Now he tells us.
Put a few in a container and send them on over. I'm sure a few buyers will be found by the time they get here.

I have no capital to do so.

However, there's 2 GS's sold recently (one at a rock bottom price) along with another that is (as far as I'm aware from when I last spoke to the owner) off out there.

I also know of an ambulance that's sitting for sale and would make a nice project.
However, if you wished to provide some investment capital then I could find some 101's.

Mmmmm, food for thought.... Who's up for this then.. How many GS's could we get in a 40' shipper?? 6 I'm thinking.. Approx $8000 from UK to here.. landed. $1500 each to cover it, purchase of a tatty GS each at $4000, $500 each for the mucking around UK side... $6000 each for a tatty GS..... Mmmm, Worth it?? Debatable.

I don't mind a bit of leg work over here, could even fill vehicles with parts before loading, **** loads of Skankey Trailers if you wanted em too.

Oh dear, this is all getting too tempting! Even stuck a swap advert on here a few days ago!! Trawling through my old photos looking for something else, I found this.... One of the last pics taken of UDG in my ownership! I know they drive like trucks but it was an awesome bit of kit. If someone can enlarged the pic, that'd be great!
