Looks like you've set 'em straight on where it lives now.
Keep us up to date on that conversation, I'm not on Faceplant.. Will be interesting to see if anyone gets upset that its now in the colonies.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
Will do for sure. I've joined that group, and I get a good vibe from it. They're all very positive, and share lots of pics of 101's in the UK, Europe, America, and Oz when I get on there! This group and the Cummins Land Rover Group are the few reasons I go on FB..

Well Dirty Harry is sick - AGAIN...
I took him for a test drive on Sunday. It was cold (6c) but fine when I took off and admittedly the weather turned terrible - raining heavily.
I drove from home to Epping (about 45 minutes the long way) - things seemed ok.
On the return trip home -
Dirty Harry started to overheat when in 3rd gear - needed to get up the hills.
I came off the highway and went the back roads - so I could nurse him home.
The temp immediately went back to normal, but then he started missing/back firing in top gear...

I don't know if water was getting inside the engine compartment, causing issues or not.. But I was quite
I'm sending him back to the mechanics - hopefully they can find something..

Hi All,
Well I have good news on Harry.
Yesterday Gav & Mick came up and we did a few jobs. First job - take Harry for a test drive, and when the temp gauge was reading in the RED - check the temp with a digital temp gauge.
The digital temp gauge showed that the actual temp is approx 82-83c - even though the (repaired) Land Rover temp gauge is sitting on the RED line.
So - the Land Rover temp gauge is out of whack and the engine is not over heating! (No loss of water from the radiator either)
The simple fix - install a VDO temp gauge and ignore the Land Rover one.
Also checked the oil leak - it's coming from the old oil cooler, which isn't connected anymore. So whatever oil was in it - is coming out. I just need to plug the oil cooler up and clean-up the mess!
Gav was quite happy with the way that Harry now drives - much quieter, and the front prop shaft rumble has also reduced slightly.
So all up - good progress. A few small jobs to do based on the above, but it's all good news in getting Harry ready for summer use.

What is that on the horizon traveling at high warp?
Nice.
Yep, she is driving really nicely. The 3.9 is much smoother and quieter than the 3.5. Quite disconcerting looking at a temp gauge that says it's hot when it's not though.
It didn't even break a sweat and I was giving it heaps. Coolant temp at 82 ish - it has an 82 degree thermostat, so bang on, oil temp measured 73 when we pulled up (measured on the sump), so it's right where it should be.
Hopefully now we can see it out at some camps with the rest of us.![]()

Hi All,
Some work done on the 101...
Firstly - second spare is now mounted at the back. Each wheel sits on top of the bumperett - which should help take some of the weight off the frame holding it onto the 101:
Next - as mentioned below the original temp gauge is reading out by a country mile. The intention was to install a secondary temp gauge (keeping the original working). I ended up installing a new one - that screws into the block where the original one did. I've keep all of the wiring for the original temp gauge - but it isn't connected. Here's the new one:
Lastly - I removed the old oil cooler that was leaking because it wasn't connected up. I have kept EVERYTHING from the old engine (including the oil cooler) - so it can all be returned to standard one day, if so desired:
That's it for now - bring on summer!!!
