No it isn't the key number. The EKA can be supplied by a dealer from the VIN if you don't have it.

Is the fob damaged or is it just not working. If so try replacing the battery (CR2032) and then pressing the unlock and lock buttons several times.

Thanks for those comments...I must apologize for not responding earlier. I was trying to communicate from my iphone in central qld, but couldn't regain service after I posted the thread.

Roadside Assist could not help & ended up towing it to Bundaberg, dropping me off at Rocky to pick up a hire car, so I could continue with my site visits at mines. To date LR Bundaberg have not sorted it. I sent the spare keys to them when I got back to Brissy.

It seemed like the remote controller (or battery) failed to me...but with the amount of time it's spending at LR that seems less likely.

Thanks for the offer. Warranty/roadside assist should relocate the Defender back to Brissy when rectified, and also organize to relocate the hire car back to Rocky...just a waiting game for me now I guess.

Oh Well, 9 days later and the LR dealer might be onto something. I guess it is frustrating for the LR dealers too, when they have to communicate via email to LR tech people with every snippet of information.

Anyway, they have ordered a IMMOBILIZER MODULE for the defender. Sounds like it could be the answer & I certainly hope so...been without the car for too long already.
