If you want "drab" or lustreless get them to add flattening base.

Wattyl paints have a stock shelf line "enamel lusterless olive drab" as supplied to Department of Defence resource number 151603.020. It comes in a 20 lt drum ( I'll check next week if we can still get it in 4lt ) and can be ordered through any Wattyl trade paint outlet.

ps. being an Army brat I love the colour

I got the paint from Protec as i couldn't get NATO drab sent over from the U.K. as they have to have chemical licenses or something.

I'm not sure on the shade for NATO green but it is supplied to defence department so is similar to ex military vehicles. I'll seek advice from our tinters

Only problem with drab army green is when you park in a forest off road and loose track of where you parked it and spend hours walking around in circles because you want to find your car again.

Ok the bonnet, front panel, and a wing (guard) have had the first colour added to the primer (it's nothing like british army drab olive-but then i am a new Australian so Australian drab olive green will suffice) protec indicate knocking it back 25% and apply a thin layer allow to dry and then knock it back with m3 scotchbrites and give two medium heavy coats.
Any one up for the bulkhead extravaganza tomorrow to see what it's like ...will be just as interesting to me lol

P.s. how do i remove the footwell from the old bulkhead as i need them on the new one are they welded ?

Mix in talc to get rid of the gloss we used to mix in talc or fullers earth to remove the shine. that was before health & safety idiots got involved now we cant even paint the trucks they have to be sent away.

The camouflage green used by the Australian Defence Force is quite different to the NATO green. If you look as Zulu Delta's 2009 image of my FFR and No5 (below) you will see that the FFR is in NATO green and the No5 in Australian Camouflage Green. (Both Protec supplied paints, Protec supplies premixed paints in the camo colours to ADF Holdworthy and Moorebank.)

The NATO green stands out like a sore thumb against our Australian landscape. Probably why the ADF doesn't use NATO green or Deep Bronze Green.

Sadly as per classic Perth-ism i reckon the guys at Protec just couldn't be arsed to sort out what was and what was not NATO drab olive green consequently it's Australian drab olive green, which is more appropriate due to the fact i am a proud member of the club.
Perth .....if you want service try another state capital bless
