I have had the usual 'nice jeep, my grandad had one of those in the 70s' or 'hows the land cruiser going?' Most people get shocked when I tell them its an 89 model .

    Respect

So I was filling up at the local diesel pump and two large Maori blokes are across from me filling up an old Corolla and I nod to them. Kept pumping and looked over my shoulder and they are sill checking me out. Then the real big one starts over towards me and I've broken out into a cold sweat hoping that I hadnt cut them off or something coming in.

Big Maori bloke: "This your truck, bro?"
    Me (nervously): "Er - yeah"
Big Maori bloke: "How much for one of these new?"
Me (diesel overflowing on the concourse): "Er - F-fifty sumthin K, I'd reckon." (gulp)
Big Maori bloke: "Thats the toughest looking, sickest truck ever - respect, bro".
    Me: Yeah, thanks mate.

Took an hour for the smile to fade after that.

I always get asked the same question. It really s**t’s me.
Remark - ‘Is that a Hummer’?
My reply - Nah, that’s a Land rover. The innovator not an imitator’

    hahahaha, that's pretty common.

Yesterday a local barista asked how old the Landy was and was shocked when I said ten years (actually eleven, but who's counting )
"So they started making them again ?"
"No, they never stopped, and the new ones still look the same "

O'course he wants a Rangie "cause my Grandad had one and I love them"

Back in the mid/late seventies when i was a little fella we travelled around Australia a fair bit in our Jeep Wagoneer and everyone kept calling it a Land Rover.
