    I have a 2009 D90 tdci, a 1996 300tdi Disco and a 1956 86inch over here in NZ.

We came over to Melbourne last week to your 4x4 show specifically to see what is available to enable us to get our vehicle sorted for an overland trek through the outback next year.

I was very impressed with the whole off road community over there and the fact that you guys are encouraged to get out and explore...Over here the Dept of Conservation is busy closing access to all the forests.

My question to you guys is:...Is the D90 big enough as a tourer for 2 people?

We toured through Kenya and Tanzania last year in a Disco run by Debs Thiele (Africa Expedition Support) and really enjoyed it...hence we intend to ship our truck over next year and head for the far north.

The cost of getting the Disco up to a touring standard just seems to be getting bigger and bigger!...especially after the Melbourne show!!

I look forward to your comments

Depends on what your aims are. Else where I have posted how in 1990 my wife and I toured around Ireland in a 90 turbo hardtop and slept in the back of it. It was makeshift, we were young, supple and a lot more flexible than we are now but we enjoyed it. If you bring a tent or an awning type exten sion for your 90 the sleeping space will increase. Have a look at Tom Sheppards Vehicle Dependent Expedition for a really well kitted out touring Land Rover 90. Having driven both 90 and 110 models I find that a 110 does give a more comfortable ride. You can fit a lot of kit into a 110 but with all that space you can pack in a lot of stuff that never gets used simply because the space is there. A touring 90 makes you focus a lot more on what you pack in-especially when travelling with the wife. Anyway you are in the correct place for good intelligent advice from well seasoned travellers.

    Red face Sorted!

Well I stripped the hub this evening and I found...

    ...

...bronze bush popped out of stub axle!
    (TOC-TOC-TOC-TOC-TOC)

Too tight tolerance...I just need a lathe and a press now...oh and some TNT...the bush is so tight on the stub axle it won't go...

CV and axle are fine, happy end!
