Hi All
In a few hours the puma will be a week oldwith 4673 kilometres under the belt, a service call completed, and a roo laid to rest
On Friday we filled up in Caloundra and drove up to Rockhampton to fill again. Headed out of Rocky and stayed half the night on the ranges - it started raining and we didnt want to get the swag too wet.
After a minor misshap in Longreach that soaked up about two hours (ok i'm an idiot ) we got going and got to Mount Isa and stayed the night, then we took off for home and got home about 11.30pm.
Bad points as the car is mostly good it's easier to list the bad points, the radio - lucky its not handheld as you could walk out of rangethe speed limiter well it just sucks if you want to sit on 130, the seat reclining handle that's come off and the lack of paint on the bottom of the back doors and the back windows coming down on their own.
All in all a good trip and happy to have such a nice vehicle will have to sort out some of the other stuff.
Regards Mark
Hi mark,
Just a quick one about the radio. We just did a bit of a trip down to vic and back and were cursing the radio for the first half of the trip because we couldn't search for any stations, and it wouldn't even pick one up that we were just listening too, and crazilly enough i got out the manual for it... 15 or so hours into the journeyand if you press and hold the main volume button down for five or so seconds you get into a second set of menu options and you can change the area your in to aisa pac, and a few other things and after that it can search no probs and find stations. I don't remember exactly what it was i changed but it was pretty simple one you get into that second set of menu options.
Cheers,
Chris
Speed limiter shouldn't have been an issue in the first week, you're breaking it in gently. We didn't get to 100kph for most of the trip back from Melbourne to Gove in our's.
As for the back windows... it's a Defenderthey all do that. The seat recliners should push on enough not to fall off, if they won't then a dob of Sikaflex on the edge of the bar will hold it in place.

Hi All
Thanks for the radio tip gitney will have to try that oneand tahks for the seat and window tips dmdigital
will have to try and put up with the windows and fix the seat.
Regards Mark
Forgot to mention with the windows check the winder handle position is at the lowest point when the window is fully up. This doesn't fix it but it helps. I've been trying to work out a rubber strap or something to keep a slight tension on the handles in the Defenders. I know this sounds wrong, but it would have been nice if they had made the rear door windows electric as well as the front ones. Then they would have stayed up. The front and rear windows in my Tdi all work themselves down too.
