Angry Puma Alarm System Advice Needed

    hello

Can anyone help me, my 08 Puma 130 was broken into (rear passenger window was smashed) and my Waeco fridge stolen.

The thieves managed to get it through the window that they smashed!

When I discovered the break-in the doors were all still locked and the alarm system still armed. After the police dusted the vehicle I tested that opening the door whilst armed will set the alarm off and it works.

Now according to my manual (refer page 15) it states that movement within the vehicle whilst armed will set the alarm off???? I had assumed that a broken window and or the act of removing a fridge through the window would constitute this.

Off to see the dealer tomorrow, would appreciate any thoughts or advice from anyone.

    Dave

My 2010 Owners Manual says the same but I haven't been able to identify a movement sensor in my vehicle. Certainly the alarm has not gone off when I have left the sun roof open with the alarm armed.

    Good luck with the dealer!

Motion sensor can be fitted to the 10AS unit - I believe the top spec in UK has it - but isn't fitted in Australian spec.

Yeah, how bleak was I to realise a month after we bought our Puma that the SA-spec also did not include motion-sensors.

Interesting. Just so you guys can see the motion sensor.

I've got a 2005 XS 90 here in the UK. It is fitted with all the toys.

Same sensor as in the D1, as same alarm unit. Probably the same sensor as the D2 had as well but it had a different alarm system connected.

My 130 has a slight indent in the hood lining just above drivers B pillar. Thought it must be moulded into the hood lining. However I noticed recently there is nothing but air behind the indentation, and certainly no wiring.
I have no block thing on the outside of the lining, so I guess no interior motion detection.

sorry to hear about your experience Dave.

    Thanks all for your comments

I spoke to the dealer today they didn't think there was an interior sensor but weren't sure and they were some what surprised when I showed them the manual which states that there is.

The dealer is going to contact Land Rover Australia to get some technical advice.

I suspect the answer will be as some of you have pointed out which is despite what the manual says there isn't a sensor.

I will ask what is involved in fitting it and connecting to the system.

    Cheers
