Did think about that Ron, was doing about 30kmh.
BUT- travel back to Sydney, hire lawyer?, motel cost, maybe adjourned 2+motel cost, might lose - all those costs + fine +?.
They make paying the fine seem much easier. Fair play? whats that?

Had a look at the photos, pic1 attached, couldn't download pic2 for some reason, but just shows me a bit further into the poo.
Looks like it was the trailer that did it.

It looks like the lights were very amber when you went across - unless you were travelling at walking pace. The red had been lit for 1 sec and amber for 4 secs.

You know how long the wheelbase of the 110/trailer combination is so from this pic and the next pic and using the painted lines, you could possibly work out your speed.

It is definitely worth challenging it if it your first offence and you detail what happened. NSW will cancel fines in some circumstances. Of course, if you have already paid it you probably won't get a refund.

BTW, which numberplate did they read?

Yeah, but it probably cost him more Reminds me; for those old enough to remember Telly Savalas, the bald actor who did the detective show Kojak back in the 70's when colour TVs first came in. A white bloke goes into the barber and says I want a Telly savalas haircut. Barber cuts his hair and says that'll be 3 bucks (cheaper back then) and a black fella is sitting waiting and when its his turn he says I'll also have a Telly Savalas haircut and the barber says that'll be 6 bucks. What? says the black fella, you only charged him 3 bucks. Yeah, says the barber but colour tellys cost more
b - boom. Terrible eh? But I bet one of you old farts (like me) tells it somewhere, sometime

    Hi Ron,
Seems I can ask for leniency - ie admit guilt and ask to be let off. I have to amongst other things provide evidence of no infringements for the last 10 years.
And guess what - Vicroads will only provide information for 5 years!

It was the trailer reg they used, I hired a trailer in Cooma.
I dropped speed to probably 15-20kmh before the intersection because I missed a gearghange, then started to accelerate cos I could see the green, but the poor V8 was struggling to get moving after that. I reckon I would have got up to 30kmh, but speed isn't the issue anyway, I was just seen to be in the intersection moving against a red light.
If I lived in NSW I would probably have a go but I am not driving back for the risk and expense of losing the case.

Any way I don't have a blemish free record, I have had 2 speed fines in the last 6 years. Well it is a V8.
    Cheers,
    Terry

The speed and position of the white van may have given the camera a false reading. Just who was speeding ?

Talk to Scott Cooper 0419 536 975 at Speeding Fine Consultants if you are not sure, he is right up on devices and legislation, the police hate him because he gets them on their lazyness and dodgy practices.
He has helped me out a couple of times, I got onto him after watching a doco on him..

    Cheers

I can't see any possible way of you getting out of this one. It's an offense to even enter an intersection on green if you're not able to clear it in time. They will just argue that you should have taken the extra length into account when deciding to proceed.

Uuuuuuusually the sensor pads are placed after the last white line - defining the intersection. In that photo the 110 would have triggered the camera whilst a red light was illuminated. Also, the regulations state you must stop before a stop line at a yellow (amber) light unless it is not safe to do so. I know trailers don't help but I think it would be an uphill battle defending this one...

    Matt.

PS - the penalty for not stopping at a yellow light is the same as a red one - $344 and 3 points.
