Are you too wide for your Defender?

I've noticed a lot of Defender owners drive with their right elbow out the drivers window. I'm really keen to get a Defender but I haven't had time to test drive one yet (I work FIFO). With my arms down my side in a normal standing position I'm 70cm wide elbow to elbow. Will I have problems fitting in the drivers seat (eg. right shoulder bashing against the door?). I had problems fitting in the drivers seat of a soft top TJ wrangler.

I guess if the Defender falls through I might have to get a Disco.

Of late I see arms hanging out of a lot of different cars, seems to be a current trend. When taught to drive years ago, and elbows out the vehicle was a frowned upon and you were booked if caught.

After your next FO go to a dealer and have a test drive - the only way to be sure.

There's a difference between driving with an elbow out the window of a Defender and an arm hanging down the side of the Commodore and the hat on backwards.

Westaussie, There are generally two camps of Elbow Out Defender Drivers (EODDs).
The first are those who did not modify their steering style when commencing Series/ Def ownership and have consequently lost the ability to bend their elbows after reconstruction/ occupational therapy resulting from elbow- door collisionitis and .....
Those who have learned from the pain and suffering of others.

Then there's we what was learned proper about hand-to hand steering
If your tum is proportionate to you width, then you will have trouble with the necessary 'Elbows down' style required.

    I hope this helps

in any 110 or deefer this "problem" can be simply overcome by fabricating supplementry seat mount rails which shift the seat inwards and upwards about 20mm (see pic below)

makes it more comfortable as well

don't know if it is this simple in a PUMA

You either fit a Defender or you don't.

I'm 6 foot, 90kg and have never driven anything more comfortable.
