Given (I gather) power and torque figures are the same there's no reason the 2.2 would be any worse than the 2.4 I wouldn't think.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Whats wrong with LR dealers??? I called around a bunch of places, most couldnt care less about the defender, hardly any wanted to do a deal with me on the price, just quoted RRP then told me they cant really move much if any on price, i even got into an arguement with the dealer here in newcastle because i asked for a 130 with HCPU tray, which he told me they didnt make!?? In the end i won that arguement when he finally decided to check himself. Land rover really need to sort out there dealers.....

But on advice from here to talk to Simon at Bryce Lyntons on the gold coast it looks like i have secured my self a 130, In silver, to be built in november, arrival sometime in dec or january... and it will be a 2.4

Regarding the same power output, i would like to see a dyno chart across the entire rev range, same peak power is not the same as power at any RPM. Also i would much rather trust 2.4L to do the job then 2.2L, well i would rather trust the 3.2L version... but thats not going to happen.

Good work, I bought mine through Simon. He will do as much for you as he can. While you are spending it, grab a set of original floor mats, they fit and work well. Of course you can screw LR to compensate you when it's in the work shop for too long. Hopefully that wont happen for you.

Last week I drove two turbo'd 3.9 Isuzu Parenties. As far as I could tell my Puma did all the Parentie did just at higher revs. So'd I guess a 2.2 will be the same just higher reving again. I do recon though, as they ring these motors necks for more power, longevity is being compromised.

Good work cal, look forward to the pic when it arrives.

Yep, longevity of the 2.2 was a concearn for me too, as it is with the 2.4, but if anything major happens once its out of warranty hopefully the ford rangers with 3.2s will be common enough to find a donnor car or TDV6's in wrecked D3s are a little more common.

I like the look of the defender mats, do you remember how much they set you back? Pat Do you have any pics of the seat covers?

My plan at the moment is once the car comes, i will strip the interior, hurculiner(or similar) the interior, add some heat proofing/sound proofing to the under side of the floor panels and firewall, Add a roof console, add icom400 pro, replace stereo with something bluetooth capable and of reasonable quality, add some better speakers, replace the front seats with some nice recaro's or similar(might take a while for that one) put a water tank under the rear seat box, modify the rear seat mounts so it can tilt back a little further, fit child restraint and kids seats, make a storage box across the floor in the rear as it will be only little kids sitting in there, tint the windows, add black checker plate to gaurds maybe bonnet tub rear quarters etc, add some custom sliders, add a bullbar not sure which one yet, put on my HID converted lightforce, put on a winch, upgrade the intercooler, loose the cat, get a BAS remap, disable the EGR, put on my 255-85s, i also plan to replace the rear diff with a salisbury some time down the track being a 130 with no ABS this should be fairly easy, when i do it will get the D60/35spline treatment, i also baught a d1 recently as my daily driver, it has F/R jac mac lockers and upgrade axles/CVs, hopefully i can fit these in the front

Just a thought... Puma refers to the engine developement project of the 2.4 Transit engine (changing the dual mass flywheel etc). The new dash and other pretty things just came as a bonus.

The 2.2 should therefore have a different project name? Is anyone aware of a new name for these 2.2's?

    Nice work Cal,

Land Rover rubber mats for the front and rear of PUMA are worth about $500.00.

    Gota be happy with that....
