My (wife's actually) 2.2 90 goes really well. Very surprised how I can slot it into 6th around 80 kph and it pulls so well up hills and has no trouble sticking to 100kph. Not much happening below 1500rpm though.Rides a bit lumpy though!

Gouldier here I to have ordered a Defender in December , Its due in April , May hope it is worth the wait
Mines only 2 weeks old tomorrow, done 2200k's with a quick trip to Sydney when it was 2 days old, topped 130km/h coming back once or twice and the thing pulls like a freight train. 100km/h 6th gear and it keeps accelerating up hills. I must admit I was a bit apprehensive when Carl, then Simon told me I was getting the 2.2ltr, but now I love driving it. Carpeted the back (pic attached)with 10mm sticky backed rubber under it and it has made qiute a difference. All I have to do now is replace the standard steroe and speakers with some quality gear. I noticed in the manual that the stereo listed has a aux input jack and a USB port, but our local model seems to not get it. I found a FM modulator stereo input module in Coles (of all places) for $7.00, gave it a go and it works quite well with the IPhone. The only question I have is where the heck am I going to put the 2nd battery for the winch, fridge etc..
As for water leaks, Cal there was a thread back in November(I Think) last year, Land Rover have a part number for an upgraded lower door seal that works a treat, they are now fitted standard as when I test drove one, it didnt have the new seal and the daylight through the door seals was questionable, but the special edition model they had on the floor did. I had to tell them what the difference was as they didnt seem to know anything about it.
Cheers Ian
Very tidy 90 Ian! Love the look of the carpets, no good for me though as Pilbara dust gets into any car, more so into the Defender!
The battery situation is par for all Defenders, Naks from South Africa recently posted some pictures of 2 batteries shoe horned under the pasenger seat (sure there are many people out there with similar setups on the forum). The trick is to find the correct ampage with a low enough height to slide the cover back.
The battery situation is easy to fix if you are willing to spend a couple of hundred at the panel beaters.
You just need to cut out the raised sections of the battery box, replace with flat metal, and then you can easily fit 2xN70 batteries in sideways.
E.g. on an earlier model, these are the bits that need to be cut out:
LR can't have any problem with later warranty claims as it is just a cosmetic/panel mod.
Maybe someone like Rijidij could offer a pre-folded battery tray that can be bolted in place once the old one is cut out??? However what I did is only about an hour's work for a competent panel beater - not including paint.
2.2.....I think they forgot 1 ltr and 1 cylinder
