    LT95 hi-lo lever relocation

Has anyone tried modifying the high/low range lever on an LT95 so that it's located just in front of the gearstick, similar in place to on an LT230?

I'd imagine it could be done with a few linkages and brackets.

Haven't done it, but cant see why it wouldn't work.
If you were only going to relocate the Hi/Lo, and keep the vacuum CDL, then some sort of a Teleflex cable might be a good option.

I guess the question is why would you want to replace a simple direct lever with a complex series of levers/linkages to a remote location.

I'm swapping my lt85 to an lt95 in the county. I'm trying to source an LT95 trans cover so it all looks neat.

I also thought this may be an idea to help avoid cutting holes in the lt85 gearbox cover if I can't find one. My current cover has a good thick layer of insulation to keep the noise out. More holes = more noise and the isuzu doesn't need any more noise getting through

The LT230 high/low arrangement doesn't seen to be too complex or cumbersome, so it appears to be a viable option. It'll be even simpler without the diff lock linkage joined in as well.

The Perenties have the high/low just below the main selector.

    G'day Scott,
You can use the LT85 transmission cover and rubber for the LT95. The gearbox lever fit in the same hole and you can either leave the hi/lo lever where it is or make a new set of levers so it comes out where the LT230 lever comes out or blank the hole. That's what the Army Perenties have in theirs. I reckon it's a better setup than the lever in the seatbox. I can get a photo of mine tomorrow if you want so you can see how neat it is.

Is the perentie set-up readily available and can it be easily fitted to a range rover LT95? I'm assuming it connects to the shaft on the passenger side of the box, rather than the drivers side as on my box.

By 'rubber' are you referring to the boot around the gearstick and transfer lever? Does the diff lock actuator also go through the boot?

I figure I should nut this stuff out before I start the conversion, rather than discover it halfway through, as the County is my daily transport.

All the bits are available (though very pricey - any LR part number starting with AYG or BYG has the price trebled I'm sure) and will fit any LT95. There probably will be a lot of these available when the Perentie parts stocks end up at the auctions, but I wouldn't be holding my breath waiting. It connects on the left side of the cross shaft and the lever sticks through the boot (rubber cover) where the LT230 lever/lock was. The vacuum diff lock is separate and you will have to make a hole in the seatbox for the switch to poke through. I have an old rusty set of levers here that I intend to use as templates to make up another set when I reco the LT95 in my V8 County when the Suzi goes in. If you want one I could make 2 sets, but it won't be for a while yet.

I converted from Lt85 to Lt95 in my County. I put the Hi-Lo lever in the normal spot through the seat box, but to keep it all looking neat, I kept the Lt85 rubber boot and fitted the diff lock vacuum switch through where the Hi-Lo lever used to be. I think I cut a little bit off the rubber to fit the vac switch through, but nothing looks out of place.

Where abouts does the lever come through the seat box? I was having a look yesterday but it wasn't obvious. There didn't appear to be many spots where it could poke through.
