mines about to turn 28 and at 430K it still has the same rattle in the door, but the dealer will not look at it, servicing is free just the odd sunday
I've got a new 2.2 MY 2012- two months in and couldn't be happier. It came with the obligatory LR rattle in the door but the dealers are looking over that now.
Its just wonderful to still be able to own these things.![]()
I first drove (Series and 110) Land Rovers about 20 years ago and while they've changed quite a lot in that time, they're still recognisably the same vehicle.
Just the other day the boss and I had run into Darwin and were loading sacks of concrete into the tray in Bunnings car park. Parked next to us is a flashy oriental cruiser with an old fella strapped miserably in the passenger seat. He winds down his window, peers over at us and his face breaks into a smile. "Excuse me" he says, what kind of Land Rover is that, what year?" I replied it was 2012 and less than two months old (but covered in mud). The old fella looks puzzled and then he brightens again "I've owned seven Land Rovers -and they all looked like that one. Just remarkable" he nods. Then his daughter returns with her Bonzai or whatever and she drives him off. As they go I see him turning around in his seat trying to keep the Land Rover in view.
Isn't that just fantastic?![]()
Get yourself a Land Rover -you'll just love it!

Any Deefer is a good idea !
Just get ready for the Toyota driver schtick.
Reliability and idiosyncrasies are two different things.
If you drive it and like it.... Buy it!
If you don't ... there are plenty of fridges out there you can buy new...

Defenders - drive them and love them.
And for those Japanese vehicle owner load mouths...
Over 3 million Toyota, Nissan, Mazda and Honda vehicles recalled | News.com.au
Only airbags this time, but it just proves they are far from the perfect vehicle their owners claim them to be.
Cheers,
Lou
Hi all i just brought defender australia day i have had it for 10 days it started to miss and sputter but got me home than stop half way up the drive way .
And my first though was there right ( aurlo) .It get's you home, any way it took two week's to fix (fuel injector pump) but it was not pump. as i drove
home feeing very good that only a defender could give (beside the swmbo)
and as i turned into drive way same thing.( just to note i zeroed the trip meter and they test drove 200 plus kls), i though it was my style of driving.. but
after it defender (no name yet) got a lift to land rover three day we rang and ask what was wrong and a day later its a ecu, do not have stock and still waiting, but all i think about is getting to drive it, sit in it. ( i must be in love)
and this is why i think people should buy defender, this is only my two cents but if you love it buy it you can never got wrong if you really want one...regards gvwow
