I do the same on my battle green Royal Enfield (with very similar plates to my Defender), but I don't often get waves back. Although to be honest I'm not looking too hard... too busy trying to not die.

You're all mad. If a bozo in a car will pull out and do a U turn in front of 60 tonne of fully lit up B-Double what hope do you have on a bike? I rode a Kwaka 1000 40 years ago, but nothing on earth would get me on a bike these days.
