Thread: Where's the Defender wave gone?

    The wave is not dead.

I have had the SWB Defender now for two weeks and have not failed to get a wave from fellow drivers.

But why do they wave with one finger only...

    Only kidding...waves all round.

Picked up second hand puma from Brisbane last weekend. Nicest previous owner, recommended, no, ordered me to continue the wave tradition.

Made the trip back down to Vic, stopping in Sydney to see a mate. First wave returned in redhead beach near Newcastle from an amused td5 owner as my two passengers and myself waved madly. Made our morning driving

Doing my bit for the wave in inner eastern Melbourne suburbs (deep behind range and new disco lines) lots of posh mums wondering what on earth the crazy man in the silver 110 puma is doing. I've got Queensland plates on till march, if I see anyone I'll wave! Daily drive to notting hill along dandenong road and ferntree.

Apologies in advance to the ones missed in traffic. I'm often distracted trying not to run over shiny Mercedes or Lexus drivers etc. who think it is their right to merge whenever they like..

    Happy waving!

There's lots of white rigs here
I'm putting up a partition between the rear seats and
load area before I head up north. AC doesn't have to
work so hard and can cool down a smaller volume.
The 110 is just to cavernous for the little AC in the defender for
    NQ conditions.

    Loving Tasmania, but! No1

Kerry and I are currently touring Tasmania and I'm glad to say that the Defender Wave is alive and well this far south. 100% so far and most waves initiated by the other parties. We love the wave, it makes for a great day out and Tassie is stunning.
BUT. I'll continue my whinge in general chat!!

You would think the MR automotive ute would wave back but that's a big no.

Funny how it rolls somedays. Got snobbed by a series driver opposite me at the lights this morning. I find that odd as he has no idea what I have in the shed. But then again also at the lights in the afternoon by a black 110 this time.
On the up side though, two big smiling happy faces with energetic waves from two other Defenders throughout the day. So about right 50%

The driver may not even own a land rover......than alone a defer

I no longer go out of my way to wave......the the rig gas a few mods accessories than I wave and even flash the light, if it's a clean skin than I don't bother

    Haha, thats funny.

I feel sometimes if your car looks new or if it doesnt fit a certain criteria of styling then most old school defenders will look the other way. But you get 100% success rate from similar new looking vehicles. It's almost like you have to do your time or something.

Not so much a wave story but I found it humerous.

Took my 90 up to Townsville for it's 20k service and got given a Volvo S60 as a (can't spell this morning) loan car to drive. While driving the 90 I saw maybe 1 Defender over 400kms! got in the Volvo and it seemed every Defender in Townsville was out driving, but had to restrain myself from waving so that I didn't look a fool waving at 4x4's in my little Volvo.

On a side note, if you have 60k laying around go get a Volvo S60, they are nice. in fact too nice, I was almost tempted to swap it for the 90.
