    I am soooo sad

Went to Redcliffe today, anyone who lives near here knows that is one hell of a drive from my sisters @ Sunnybank. I saw soooo many defenders that I went to wave to, but alas, I was in my sisters kia/Hyundai/I don't know what it is. Then leaving there I didn't see one Now if I took Big Red up there my sisters would have wondered how I knew so many people on the north side

I saw big red a few weeks ago on the gateway and I was thinking the same thing why wasn't I in the Defender.

There are so many Defenders in Brisbane. I hate driving the Cruze because I always pass a Defender and I have to fight the urge to wave. I don't want to look like an idiot. I can do that with out waving!!

I got a very gentlemanly nod and wave in Brendale last weekend from an older chap driving a very tidy Puma. He sped up to over take me and we both had a gander at each other's rigs.

    Cheers.

    [QUOTE=landy;1611754]Hi all,

I have noticed that fellow defender owners don't seem to be waving to each other as much as they did in the past. Especially puma owners, and the worst "offenders" were in Victoria. Come on guys, thats one of the things that set us apart from the others! who cares about Jap 4x4s. And discos-Dime a dozen. But Defenders, its like a club within a club. So come on guys lets get the rage back.

    Any thoughts?

I run around the Northern and inner suburbs of Melbourne in my 300tdi 110, waving at any box on wheel with a green oval...

Series drivers all wave, county drivers all wave, 200/300tdi drivers all wave (with the exception of one green 130), most td5 drivers wave, some discos, few rangies...and VERY few pumas.

That said...my parents have a puma, and they wave at most things with a green oval badge on it, but they have been landie-fans for a very long time now.

Maybe Land Rover Australia needs to include a little "driver's guide" brochure in the sale of all new defenders...

To my horror I got back a shoulder and arm out the window wave!

As a feather weight opening the window isn't a necessity for my comfort, but I was certainly outclassed on this occasion.

Mental note to self: try harder next time

Ps: For the avoidance of doubt, first time at GVM, not first time on a hill

G'day everyone in "Landy Land"! I drive my ol '95 Disco, and if its got a "Landrover' badge on it, my wife and i wave at it. Lol. We love the Landy community. Allways brings a smile when spotting others out there.

Seems to me different types of Landy's attract different types of people . The older the Landy the more dedicated the owner , and the more likely they are to wave . There are as always exeptions . Also the older the car the more busted knukles and sweat the owner has likely poured into their vehicle , and the more affinity they are likely to feel towards fellow owners .
I would like to see a sub forum for post TDI [ computerized ] Defenders .

In the past week I've seen more defenders in and around toowoomba than ever and EVERY Puma defender has waved back, only been snobbed by 2 (yes I keep track). One was an orange tdi 130 driven by a middle aged woman (she followed me for about 2 km than we drove side by side for about another k, nothing, totally oblivious to my excuberant arm out the window) the other was a tdi 110 but he was travelling the opposite direction on the highway so may not have seen me.
my point is IMO anyone who buys a brand new defender is just as likely if not more likely to be an enthusiast of the brand then someone who has had the vehicle for years and to them it is now just an option to get from a to b
