Thread: Tell me about the TDI 130

Big question with a bigger answer. A 09 defender is also known as a puma, it was the code ford used for the motors developementvwhen they owned LR. So from 07 to 11 is basically a puma.
130 stands for the amount of inches between axles. So you can get a 130 twin cab style side (hcpu), or tray back, or just a tray back ute. 110 comes in a wagon or a style side twin cab, or a tray back ute. 90's are the little ones.

A 130 is my next defender.Good choice in the bush but if you live in the city forget it. Pat

300 TDi until 1997, before that was the 200 TDi, TD5 1998-2006, ford engine from 2007 to current, commonly know as Puma engine.

So if you want a 300 TDi you will be looking at vehicles pre 1997

Hey! I live in Sydney and drive a 130 - no problems. Just get a cheap reversing camera, you can't go wrong.

BTW - I wouldn't go back to a wagon now.

Agree, though ours is a tray back so a bit harder to see over the back, but reversing camera works a treat, and I always reverse in were the garden beds are to tuck the nose in

OK so if I got this right I'm looking at a 2009 diesel 130 twin cab style side Puma ?

I live in the country & wanted the dual cab so I can still run around with the wife & kids in it but use it around the farm.

Thanks for the info I'll be going back to have a look at this one again soon so we'll see how it drives.

yep that's right. The official mane is Defender 130 HCPU (high capacity pick up) but twin cap will do. 1.5 tone carry, 3t tow. 2.4 common rail diesel, 6 speed manual.

reverse park is the way to go as others have mentioned. Mine is the daily driver and work truck, once you get used to them they are fine. Actually they are no longer than a Jap twin cab but look bigger as they have ground clearance.
