Puma rim advice
I have a 2010 puma and I'm looking at getting some 8" wide 16" diameter rims so I can run 12.5" wide 33" Cooper STT tyres. I have had a 2" lift so they should fit ok.
I am looking for some advice on good quality steel rims, if I must I will accept alloy if I can't get steel.
I'm off to the cape in 5 weeks and need to get the wheels sorted reasonably quickly.

Hey,
I have 285/75R16 KM2's on 16x8" Dynamic rims (0.0mm offset). They are only just out side the gaurds. For under a $100 each Dynamic are a great option and have a good name in 4wd circles.
You will need -25mm offset rims for 12.5's, you will need a set off extended flares as well.
Cheers, Tristan

BTW, 12.5's are a wide tyre for a stock Puma, even on a 2" lift. I suspect they will rub. Good thing you still have 5 weeks to work this stuff out!

Hey Symo,
I just fitted 8" x 16" King rims (steel) with a neutral off set.
Shod with MT Baja MTZ 285x75/16 (11.4 inches wide) they just sit out side the guards, (as 08bender has said), prob not not far enough to worry about flare extensions.
I think 315(12.5inch) is a very big tyre and may cause you some probs with axel and cv reliability along with rubbing issues.
I'll keep my eye out for you at the Cape I leave in 5 weeks

Yeah. Thanks Drover. Starting to re think the whole 315 thing and go with the 285. Running 235's now so the 50 is a big improvement.
I have had the a cv's, axels and wheel hubs all upgraded so im happy with all of that but I don't want the tyres hanging outside of the guards if I can help it.
I'm also looking for something bigger 85 16... In the old money probably 33's.
Will look for you up the cape too. Rego is easy to remember. I love dirt. Actually I DIRT with a heart symbol between the I and dirt.
Enjoy the trip if we don't catch up.
Cheers

Hey Symo,
285x75/16=33inch
315x75/16=34inch (not 100% on this)
I've replaced my axels, drive flanges and CV's with Ashcroft in prep for the big tryes.
Cheers

Yeah me too.....
Probably do the 285 75. 16, don't want to run too foul of the new vicroads codes for modified vehicle.

Have you considered 255/85r16 on 16x7? They are 33 inch tall but will fit inside the guards. I just fitted some to my deefer and they look great. I went with maxxis bighorns

I am all confused now. Want 33 or 34 but something with some width. Driving about on pizza wheels it scrambles a bit on rock etc. I was thinking a wider tyre would suit better.
Like the cooper STT also but that limits what I can do as well.
