I sent an email to Land Rover Australia asking about the Tanami (specifications, quantities produced etc.).
Initially there was an auto response, today I received a reply letting me know they are looking for the info requested. They have warned that because of the age of the vehicle the information they have may be limited but they will keep looking.
Fingers crossed, if I get any further info I'll add it to this thread.

From memory they had the bullbar, snorkle and the tool mounting kit for the bonnet and where a national promotion, thing(no idea if dealer fitted tool kit or importer) so that is where it is legal to mount your tools on the def. bonnet. i really wanted one back in 94 but we where newly weds and buying our first house so $$$ where to tight to lash out 42k on a new defender when our first house was only going to cost 105k.
The other thing is white was the only color i've seen so the green one must be a special request and would be as rare as rocking horse poo so may be worth something one day.![]()
Just received a reply from Land Rover Australia.
The only information they could find was from Land Rover Experience Magazine issue 9, 1995. The Tanami & Les are on the front page and there is a 1/2 page inside detailing the spec. (same content as I found in 4x4 Magazine).
I'd hoped they might find a bit more info but at least they bothered to get back to me.......

Very happy day today I have been working on the owner for six months to buy this Tanami and finally today I bought it. I can't wait until Monday to get it home.
Congratulations mate!

My intention is to give it some much needed servicing as the previous lady owner did not care for it too much. I need to find build/copy the original roof rack if anyone in Brisbane can help that would be much appreciated. I would love to get a new set of decals but I think as others have stated NLA I will have to see if a decal guy can copy them.
Your right about price , a 110 County back in 1986 was an expensive truck 42k seems to ring a bell , but I could be wrong . I think what has helped is the high au $ also there is a lot more composition now , compaired to the Land Cruiser the Land Rover is excellent value ...![]()
