The head can move far enough for valves to damage the bore.

What is the dreaded head shuffle?
Head movement due to expansion/contraction of the alloy head that partially shears off the two plastic locating dowels - normally leads to pressurisation of the cooling system. Fix Requires (as a minimum) a new head gasket, new head bolts and new steel locating dowels.
Thanks Gaz, is that only on the TD5?
Bollox, never heard of this before, now something else to worry about, as far as the Landie goes I'm a bloody hypercondriac
