    I rang LR and they told me it must be a battery problem but both battery's were fine and nothing else seemed to be wrong, the give away for me was I couldn't lock or unlock the car with the remote.

    I had the same problem at a servo at Wallan a green and gold one. Fuel up then it would not start. Started to go through the immobilser override code inputing then she started. Never again will I be filling up there. Cheers

    I had this issue with a servo in main road Eltham in my 04 D2 when I had it.

    Only when I parked immediately in front of the door opening infra red sensor.

    Only had to roll it back about 4 metres and then do the manual key in door reset.

    Make sure you have the factory code and where to find it.

    That's why I now drive an Isuzu. Sorry.

    ahhhh the joy of company, I thought it was just me.

    Get it taken to LR for a start. It's not your car to fix under warranty, and why bother.

    It could be a few things, and on mine quite a few things were replaced before the problem went away. My guess immobiliser, as I am up to number 3 now.
    I have been waiting for end of warranty to get it re mapped and struck off. But as other have said, and I recently discovered the dealer has the power to do so, just reluctantly.
    They most likely wont do egr's as it's related to pollution control.

    Southern Land Rover here in Perth told me the other day there is a "known" issue with a relay on the immobiliser system of Pumas. I have no clue on electronics, so this is really just a pass the info given to me. I also need to qualify that the car did not let me down or leave me stranded, as I'm expecting immediate lashings from the "oil burner brigade" .

    Mine had a bit of a "moment" starting with flashing dash lights and a few seconds worth of engine swing without firing. Turned it off and started again with a bit of rev fluctuation and then it settled down.

    Called the dealer up and they said "yeh, they know what's wrong and it's a 2 minute fix in the car park"! Took the car over at lunch and they unplugged some of the wires under the driver seat (brown ones...) and plugged a new jobbie in and on my in, well 10 minutes!

    10 days ago and all's good. Not fond of the immobiliser, but you can imagine the insurance premium hike if you took it out...

    I also had a non starting issue a few months back. Rang the dealer- get out of car press lock, wait then press unlock. do this until dash light changes flashing sequence. still no start! he says remove battery from fob! I said come one you kidding me, he says no, put battery back in. Lo and behold, press fob, doors unlocked put key in ignition, starts first crank---HUH.

    I recon the immobilser/alarm is designed by microsoft or some other Co with a poor sence of humour.

    no trouble since

    I'll follow this up with my dealer. I'd like to get a thread going, maybe a sticky in time with known Tdci show stoppers, and the appropriate fix.
    Like it or lump it spare electronic boxes will be part of out spares kit for long haul or remote travel. If we have a bit of an idea of suspect sensors and the like it may be a process of elimination on the track.
    Given we can use another electronic box to pin point issues it may not be that daunting.

    One one hand I want the immobiliser gone, on the other hand I don't want my car gone either.

    This is a immobiliser thing. Key in ignition, or out, after X seconds it renders the car immobilised. It seems as little as 30 seconds.
    If you try and then start the car without unlocking the immobiliser the horn also toot toots, or should. To disable just press unlock again on the fob and it unlocks.
    The immobiliser will lock the ignition doors open or shut, or any combo.

    Dealer told me the correct procedure to disconnect the battery was to glow the car set all procedures. Then turn key to off and disconnect battery before 17 seconds passes.
    This must be when the Immobiliser kicks in. I am not sure why battery needs to be done this way. But again will ask next service.

    Yep, this is the standard battery disconnection as per the manual (although its 15secs iirc). Reckon I've disconnected the battery in mind at least a dozen times in the last two weeks without dramas.
