    2011 Puma won't start!

    Hey,

Just got in my 2011 110 and it won't start! Everything appears normal up until you turn the key after glow plug indicator goes out then nothing happens.

There is power to everything so it is not a battery issue.

I figure it must be either ignition or immobilser?

    Any thoughts?????

Mine used to do this at times, I found if you remove the key, lock and unlock it a couple of times it would start. I also found it did it usualy after leaving the key in the ignition for extended periods without locking the car. I got into the habbit of always removeing the key and had no problems after that. I dont know if thats the fix or just another Puma quirk.

I know you say its not the battery, but I'd run a battery check first before doing anything else (even if as you say, your other bits & bobs are still operating).

    Hey Sud,

Where is the car parked? I had this exact problem at a servo on the Hume hyw (wallan) it turned out to be static or something in the servo messing with the Imobilizer and not allowing the car to start. Got the car towed out to the road and no problems started straight away. Not sure if this will help.
I rang LR and they told me it must be a battery problem but both battery's were fine and nothing else seemed to be wrong, the give away for me was I couldn't lock or unlock the car with the remote.

    Cheers Lucas

Also have a look at the relays under the driver's seat. Give them all a jiggle and push, something may be loose.

Had the same problem with my 2012 puma after doing some wiring mods. appears it though I was trying to hotwire it and it was the imobiliser that would not allow me to start it. After 3 days in the shed and a possible trip back to Geelong I tried locking it with the FOB waited 4 minutes and then opened it with the FOB and it started as normal.
Frightened the bejesuz out of me.

You don't have turbo timer or other non factory electrical add ons?

    Hi,
any chance the battery has been disconnected??

Even for a fraction of a second?

If so, read the manual on the procedure to follow before disconnecting the battery, and do this and then disconnect the battery again for a few minutes. You can then re connect the battery and every thing should be back to normal.

If there is no chance of the battery being disconnected in any way, then as oldyella 76 above says, try locking it with the fob and have a coffee, then open it again. Bit like rebooting a computer it seems.

I've had both the above issues.

    cheers

I've had the same problems but would be every 2nd to 3rd attempt at starting, it became a bloody pain. the only way to restart was to remove the key, remote lock wait for the security light to stop flashing, unlock then start.
Finally convinced Land Rover to disable the immobiliser, never had the issue again.
Land rovers technical advice was live with it!
Supposedly it is a deterrent if someone leaps in to steal your vehicle, supposedly you need to get in at a more gentlemanly rate!
