    I also have never seen a BD30 in the flesh. But I haven't exactly been looking.

    If the FD42 is direct injection it could be quite good. But there must be a few NPR's kicking around SA as engine donors.

    The NPRs we have are all being driven into the ground. This is Africa, after all......it's called unroadworthy when it can't make it off the driveway without the axles falling off.

    And nobody imports the 4BD1T.

    I can get a 4HF1 for about $6000.........

    So install a proper temperature gauge with an audible alarm. Maybe a $100 project. The problem is the stock temperature gauge, not the engine......

    Fair enough. I just wasn't told that when I bought it.

    As for alternative engines... I didn't realise there was such interest and so many ideas.

    I am now thinking it is not worth my time, so if anyone wants to buy a TD27 engine that has done 190k from an early terrano with mechanical IP etc etc, then let me know.

    Anything to stop you privately importing an engine?
