    EGR Solenoid

At last my Defender runs like clockwork. As part of the process to resolve issues I installed an EGR blanking kit and disconnected the middle vacuum hose from the EGR solenoid. I then put a blanking cap over that connection on the solenoid so that it is sealed.

Ran fine for a week or two but has now started making a large vibrating noise like a buzzer. If I disconnect the top hose (the vacuum supply) the noise stops. Am I right in assuming the solenoid is cactus and needs replacing or has this something to do with the EGR blanking kit?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Howard,
I'm not sure if I have misunderstood the instructions, I've just fitted the EGR blanking kit and all I left connected to the EGR solenoid was the two wires. I disconnected all the tubing and fitted a cap on the tubing connection to the brake servo vacuum line. Mine seems to work fine. Not sure if this helps or not.

Yeah, pretty obvious now that you say it. Just did the same and the issue has gone away - thanks.
