    Puma electronic brake controller

Is it ok to connect the controller trigger wire to one of the stoplight switches above the pedal, or safer to connect it to the stoplight wire at the rear of the vehicle. From the workshop manual there appears to be 2 switches above the pedal. The manual I have on dvd does not have a wiring diagram and the purpose of the 2 switches remains a mystery.

I just installed a P3 controller in my MY12 110 yesterday. I was thinking about the brake switch too but thought it would be safer to follow the disco lead on other threads on here and use the rear tail light trailer connection for the feed. IT just meant running two wires instead of one down to the rear.

I am happy at the moment and was able to lock the brakes manually on the trailer by bumping the power up too high so I know it works.

Only issue I have noticed is that the P3 says there is no trailer connected when I reverse, even when using the reverse feature. Weird as it reconnects when I have stopped.

Hope that helps. As I said I am no expert.

Yes I think the two wires to the rear is the go. I have wired up the battery feeds by drilling a hole with grommet in the front of the battery box and running the wires under the passenger floormat. As a matter of interest where did you run the wires to the rear. I note that there is a grommet on the inside of the drivers seat box on the tail shaft side which could be used with the wires run through a grommet at the front of the box as per the other side.
    Thanks ,Jim.

I passed the cable under the dash, behind the fuse panel, under the floor mat, up under the mat near the handbrake and under the seat mat where I removed the cubby box to find two holes leading down to the back of the transfer case. The 7mm black corrugated conduit was a perfect fit and I ran this along the top of the chassis rail on the drivers side until meeting the rear crossmember.

Hi folks, I wired up my Prodigy II to the brake light switch then ran the heavier wire direct from the battery box via rubber grommet closest to the gearbox for power supply as prodigy recommend. Have only towed the van once since then but all seemed well. Why the concern about connecting to the tail lights & not the brake switch ? I had not heard of this.

Sometimes ABS equipped vehicles can suffer brake lamp switch failures and then ABS faults from connecting controller directly to the switch itself, MOST ABS vehicles utilise a dual stage switch. This isn't a problem with the Puma IIRC.
