    Tdci 130 rear bucket seats

As the development of the my 130 grows along with the kids, I'm thinking of putting two bucket seats in the rear to accommodate a freezer.

I'd like to keep the original look if possible. I think I can make a standard Tdci 130 single seat fit by moving the standard base mounting bracket for the seat. This could be done buy sliding the original centre base mount for the 3/4 seat towards the outer mount. This would mirror the single rear seats mounts. I know the internals of the mounting box under the seat is the same, if not flimsy, all the way across the front of the box. Well I think so.
And the rear upper seat mounts are are either bolted to the body, or have a steel arm coming up from the floor and bolted to the body.

The upper mounts on the seat that accommodate the fastening brackets on the rear of the single seat are on both sides it appears. So some "seat to body" brackets bent in the opposite direction seems plausible to simply bolt on accommodate the other side of the car.

So if your still following, does anyone know if all Tdci Defender 130's have the 3/4 seat on the drivers side. Or is there a single rear seat on the drivers side variant getting around.
Does anyone know what side the single seat is on a 110 Tdci.

I think the whole thing would be easy to get engineering approval, as I'm just duplicating what LR have done.

Pretty sure the 110 Puma has the single seat on the passenger side.

    HI Newhue

I been chasing a similar replacement seat for the rear of my 130. I am more chasing a comfortable seat with head support as my older son hits his head on the rear window if I take off too fast (only down hills!)

Today I sent an email to Exmoor trim to see what they can do. Their website does not mention 130's for these:

Second Row : PREMIUM HIGH BACK - FULL SEAT SET

Will let you know when I hear back from Exmoor

    Thanks

Ok Andrew, interested to hear the outcome. A tdi has a different seat box to a Tdci however

    Hi Jason

I have heard back from Exmoor Trim.....

"Good morning, you are the first person to ask about fitment in the 130 and I have a few questions for you to look at in the vehicle. The outer seats fit to the sloping part of the wheel arch in the 110 and I do not believe that the 130 has this slope at the outer side if this I so all is not lost!! The middle seat has a square fit frame so as long as there are no odd floor mountings to obstruct the seats being fitted then 3 of the centre frame kits would possibly sort the issue we would just need measurements from the front of the raised floor section that the seats mount on to the rear bulkhead just to make sure they will fit without issue and just to make doubly sure maybe some images under your current seating so we can see if there are any potential issues."

So it sounds like they have never even looked at the seat base of the rear of the 130.

I am thinking about going to see an upholsterer. I am thinking about stripping the covering and foam from the current seat, welding in a headrest arrangement and then getting new foam that is shaped like modern day seats and then recovered.

    Thanks

I know and you know if the jobs is done neatly and well then all is good. But the old legal chest nut?. Chances of a accident in a car is the most likely dangerous thing humans do. Chances of death in a vehicle are less but still the most likely thing we do besides getting cancer as we get older.

Now considering a Tdi rare seat is just above third world design, and a Tdci is only marginally better, mostly due to fabric selection, then perhaps it's worth looking into this. I doubt Exmore would have anything for a Tdci if they have never done a Tdi.
I had another look at mine and I see my single seat does not have the upper mount on both sides, so I would have to weld something on the back of the seat. A Tdci has head rests so I've got that sorted. I rang a wrecker last week, had no Tdci's at all let alone rear seats. Just finding another seat to play with will be half my battle.
