SubscriberCurrently sitting on the side of the road after my 2012 110 amber engine light came on. Pushed on for a bit after finding nothing obvious hoping for it to clear itself but no luck as this time it lost power and I'm guessing went into limp mode. Wouldn't be so ****ed if not for the fact I have my wife and 2 children in the car on our way to the Blue Mountains for 3 days and the accommodation we bookedand paid won't reimburse or allow re booking for later date. Only have 13000 kms on the clock and despite knowing all that happens with the Defender you don't want it to happen at a time like this. Checking out the price of Land Cruisers to keep myself entertained till the tow truck comes. I'm sure that novelty will get boring after a half hour.d

SubscriberI didn't hear anything as we were at full noise on the freeway. Looked all around the hoses and couldn't see any problems as this was my initial thought. Where does the does the hose generally rub??

the bottom hose rubs on the steering - zip tie up out of the way works. They also de-laminate so look OK on the out side but the inside layer closes like a flap valve. Sometimes if you turn it off, keys out and back on again it clears the code for long enough to drive to a better stop - can do this I think up to 3 times before limp mode depending on the problem - did this with mine when the bottom hose rubbed through (didn't know it was the hose at the time or would have gaffer taped it). Good luck. Can also be the MAF sensor - RAA or equivalent would have cleaner on board so could pull the sensor, spray it clean and re-install.
My engine light came on yesterday the assist guy took an hour to arrive and check the codes . Mass airflow meter connection had moisture in it after a wash to get the salt and sand out. Still having problems with the aircon fuse blowing but these are not linked.

						SupporterHi,
do NOT wash Pumas is my advice--twice my son's 2.4 90 was flat topped (out of warranty) due to my pressure washing the engine and both times it resulted in various sensors dying--and took a while for specialists to diagnose as no faults would show. Hope the 2.2 are better but I will not be so keen on sparkling engine bay etc.

SubscriberMy 2013 model did that at about 1,500k's old. Intercooler hose as mentioned above. There is a official modification for this now, using a special bracket to hold the intercooler hose. I wonder if the Roadside assitence crew can change the hose at the roadside. You "might" be able to cut out the holed section and use a short length of steel pipe in the gap, or if it's rubbed close to the end - then cut and shorten the hose....
Rescue tape should hold a holed turbo hose - there's bugger all pressure there...

SubscriberThe only option roadside assist gave me was a tow truck. I was annoyed also that to tow truck company took it to a holding bay and not to Land Rover despite the dealership being open. Have to wait till Monday before it gets back to Newcastle. God pray nothing like this happens when doing a bit of remote 4wding out bush. It must really dampen other peoples day having to tow people out because of a breakdown.
