I read in news feed on this forum yesterday I think that in the UK, a few of the the more cluey crims are now getting into the business of stealing current model Defender parts in anticipation of a strong market for these bits once production ceases next year.

The light fingered types are even pinching bonnets off vehicles left unattended it seems!
I guess they'll also be removing whole vehicles from circulation as well, so watch out for a black market in Defender stuff.

No Defender will be worth buying as an investment.....if that's what ya want, buy a property or bank shares.
There will be no MY16,...not of the current Defender as we know it anyway.
End of the road is 20the December 2015, and some variants before that.

Yeah, won't be an investment but might hold its value okay until like most defenders it gets used and abused and will cost more to fix than its worth. About 10 years after that the few good ones left will attain classic status and values will rise. They'll have been retrofitted with an electric engine and long range touring battery pack by then.

What I don't understand, is how my toy (that I picked up Last thursday from the dealer - and arived on their door the week before that) can be called a MY15 vehicle. And the only difference that I can see between it and the MY14 is the colour scheme.

I agree, mine was built on day 1 of the My15 production run, and is in Baltimare,I suggest you get some info on VIN codes, and enjoy a good argument when they give it to you. And you should have DSC. Oops you have it, maybe share the VIN code.

I say My16 is possible as July 14 = MY15. However I do not know the production date of the last Australian Defender, it may well be June15 or prior.

However, thinking about it, it would make sense to run MY15 to the end.
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Is it a PNG or aus vehicle?

Theoretically yes, but will they bother, esp if the production runs are full:
    So we could have:
MY5 being built for 18 months or
MY16 being a super duper !! runout model. But why would they bother.
