I recently purchased 2 new Terrafirma drive flanges at the LR expo and I am about to fit them but I am not sure about the o ring seal. I have fitted the nut onto the flange and tightened it onto the o ring but it just squeezes out. Do you tighten it up the nut or tighten it just enough to compress the 0 ring a bit and use a bit of locktight on the nut to hold it.
Thanks for any help with this.

Forgot to add,put a blob of grease in the cap to lube the splines. Pat
I threw the o ring away, added sealant to flange face, then put nut on tight. Been working fine for over 2 years. They still come off, just put on new goop each time.

Sounds like a bad design. There should be a place machined in the cap for the o-ring to be held so that the cap can be fully tightened.

I think its a bad design also not that well thought out. What are the other brands like.

The only others I've looked at are Ashcroft and Maxidrive, both which seal properly.

I've fitted these and yeah they are poorly designed I did the same as micksta and just use sealant and ditched the oring

If I was still working I could get the machinists to machine a groove in the flange to accept an o ring and all would probably be ok. Should have went with quality gear.
