I personally haven't used these products nor do I know anyone that has, however I think you'll find you get what you pay for. Just by looking at the pictures against the Allisport IC I would personally fork out the extra...

65mm (alisport) vs 115mm (Yumcha) core thickness.
Looking at the mounting lugs it would appear the Yumcha would protrude into the engine bay side by 50mm??, making the fan shroud a problem.

The other 2% made it home.

Cost difference between Britpart and Genuine seals: £2.04. Knowing that your brakes won't fail at any moment: Priceless.

Is bigger core thickness better? It looks like the consensus is it isn't worth it but still keen to hear anyone's feedback

All I can say is that my mate fitted one of these Allisport intercoolers

together with a tidied up 300TDi into his '94 LSE RRC and he's absolutely stoked. It holds steep hills better than the 3.9 V8 did. Some minimal mods were needed to the frame and fan shroud but it all fits.

Core size isnt the only factor. Efficiency and flow are as much if not more important than just size
Looking at those welds the insides of the tanks have probably got lumps of weld that look like pigeon s#@t. These can break off and go through your engine. It has happened many times since Chinese intercoolers started appearing 10-15 years ago. Just from pics it doesnt look like the tanks have been designed to flow well either.
I can only imagine the response from the seller if some weld broke off from inside the cooler and destroyed part of if not all of your engine.
    I wouldnt buy one.

    Cheers
    Michael.

Personally I think fitting a $600+ dollar intercooler is a waste of money, you would be much better off cleaning the original, replacing the hoses and giving the vehicle to a good diesel tuner and getting it tuned, anyone who thinks sticking a go fast bit on and getting results without doing anything else is living in la la land, when was the last time you check valve clearances?. Cleaned mine out a few months ago and it definitely made a difference. How would replacing the hoses, unless they are delaminated or something, make any difference?
