Daytime Running Lights

Why not just run the actual headlights like the minespec vehicles?

There's usually a sticker inside that says "This vehicle has been fitted with automatic headlight on system".

If the idea is solely to improve your daytime visibility to other vehicles that seems to be the simplest option?

I'm wanting better low beam without forking out huge amounts or dazzling oncoming drivers and thought this might be a cheaper solution, but 25w is not much and turning off when the headlights come on negates the point. Thanks all. Looks like I need to pay $400ish each light for some speakers.

Much better low beam (and high for that matter). I've got the Osrams and it's a pretty spectacular improvement, and most importantly completely legal.

This site might have ideas for other light mods as well.

Not at all... The dazzling effect of DRL (and fog lights) at night has a huge impact on oncoming drivers.

Doing huge kilometers after dark I've come across many an individual (read Clown) who is inconsiderate of other road users.

Those who fail to turn off these lights when approaching are soon "illuminated" in the error of their ways.

D(aytime) Running Lights are just that - for improved low beam performance look at:

Wiring
Bulb choice
Reflector upgrade

The worst I have had dazzling wise were what I believe to be LED H4 conversions. I refrain from 'illuminating' other than a quick flash as there may be 'collateral damage' to other innocent parties or they may have left high beam on inadvertently. I have also noticed square headlights are more annoying to oncoming drivers than round ones.
