(Furphys Shepparton) At least two at a time because of minimum job charge. Cleaned up one rim with patches of a bit more than light surface rust in molasses solution first. I now have 5 rims with near new 2.35/85X16 BFG MT's, and two more half worn older type on gal rims. Also 5 more galvanised rims and three with deteriorated original white paint and 7.50x16 Michelin XZL's with marginally legal tread. Good for some possible emergency use while spare gal rims on hand.
Main advantage of Galvanised is that it largely stops rust, especially from scratches and on the bead and under the tube/ inside the tyre. (Five of the gal rims I have are the type intended for tubeless tyres) After galvanising, it is necessary to smooth out a few rough bits. The finish is initially somewhat shiny. It then tarnishes a bit but then under most conditions deteriorates much slower than paint.
