Thread: White 110 what colour rims best?

I have fifteen 6.5 inch Wolf rims which are standard on 130 and military Defenders. Rather than consider repainting them I invested in paint stripper and "elbow grease" to clean them up after stuffed tyres were removed. Then sent them to the galvanisers. (Furphys Shepparton) At least two at a time because of minimum job charge. Cleaned up one rim with patches of a bit more than light surface rust in molasses solution first. I now have 5 rims with near new 2.35/85X16 BFG MT's, and two more half worn older type on gal rims. Also 5 more galvanised rims and three with deteriorated original white paint and 7.50x16 Michelin XZL's with marginally legal tread. Good for some possible emergency use while spare gal rims on hand.


Main advantage of Galvanised is that it largely stops rust, especially from scratches and on the bead and under the tube/ inside the tyre. (Five of the gal rims I have are the type intended for tubeless tyres) After galvanising, it is necessary to smooth out a few rough bits. The finish is initially somewhat shiny. It then tarnishes a bit but then under most conditions deteriorates much slower than paint.

Doesn't the gal process involve acid dipping?

How much is the gal costs?

I have a set of Terrafirma Anthracite Wheels which i think look really good
