In all these rust prevention discussions, I've never seen Corrosion X mentioned, despite it being sold by Defender Tuning.

Available in 400ml aerosol or 2l liquid.

    DefenderTuning :: CorrosionX

Does anyone have any experience wih this?

Downey Street Rustproofing — After Beach wash and Electronic Rustproof Professionals

Downey st in Bne are the only people I have found doing Tectyl professionally for the public, the applier is also a defender buff.

I will use them to clean after a beach frolic
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

I spoke to Jason from Stork AWD (Dinitrol distributor here in Aus) last week, as I'm wanting to rustproof my brand new 90. He said he would need to ship a whole pallet of the stuff and that it's not financially viable due to not enough interest in rustproofing products here. I also asked Jason about importing it in and he said there's no issues there, he just doesn't want to do it as he doesn't want to try sell off a whole pallet!

I reckon if there's a enough interest here, we could put it forward to Jason and see if he can help us out. I'm happy to ask him about it if any of you want to put your interest down here.

I'm assuming the reason retailers in the UK can't ship here, is to due those products being classed as 'dangerous goods'. However, Fedex & DHL have a dangerous goods service, so I don't really know.

I'm also tempted to find out if a company like Dangerous Goods International, who specialises in transporting DGs and have offices here in Aus and UK, are able to help me out. But I would need to get someone like Rejel to sell the stuff to me first. Might have to make a phone call to the UK, as they did't reply to me email

I'll be getting my local spray painter, who does rustproofing (with sika products), to apply the Dinitrol, if I can get it!!! I'm wanting to use Dinitrol products, as it has such a good rep in the UK.

If that's not possible, I'll go for Bilt Hamber's Dynax products. Apparently, you'll need a few cans of each (4 or 5) if you want to do a whole defender. There's a thread on Defender2 where a guy stated he used 20 cans of the S50 $54 a can here in Aus!

There are all sorts of good products.
Try the Wurth website, I believe their products are sold in Aus, & they've been around for a LONG time.
However, as I've said before, one of the main "desirables" is to have someone apply the stuff who REALLY KNOWS DEFENDERS, and as a consequence is able to get the stuff in the right "nooks & crannies",...ie, unscrewing door hinge bolts to get the stuff "in".

Yep, totally agree. The Corrosion Prevention Guide thread on Defender2 is an excellent source and apparently the OP, Zagato, is writing up an even more comprehensive guide, which he'll release very soon.

I wouldn't get my local guy to do it until he's reads that guide.

Been thinking about this recently too and wondering what the best method of applying any 'goo' would be.
Back in the UK, I used a waxoyl kit on my Lightweight and it came with a big hand pump type thing that was screwed onto the waxoyl tin and used to pressurise it. The application lance was built into the hand pump thingy and had a long extension probe on it for getting into the chassis rails.
Now I've been wondering if a similar thing can be made using a hand compressor garden sprayers, the sort of thing used for weedkiller? Get a 4l tin of the tectyl stuff (I've also been trying to find out if septone rust shield is similar), thin it down and then spray away. Certainly cheaper and easier than using a heap of spray cans, just not sure if the pipe work and seals in the sprayer would be up to it.

The Bump Shop at Eagle Farm did my D4 with Tectyl.
Didn't need much of a clean as it was brand new.

My son and i did the Puma,we completely coated the chassis after it had a good clean. We painted it on,a bit messy, but goes on nice and thick, and hasn't needed re doing. We had the guys at the Bump Shop spray it inside the chassis as well.

I've just sent an email to Jason at Stork AWD to see if they would be interested in importing the Dinitrol Rustproofing kits. I let him know that they're a few of us that are interested and also asked what would be the minimum to import to make it financially viable for them.

If I don't get a reply in a couple of days, I'll give him a phone call to follow up. Surely there must be a few of us here to fill at least half a pallet to make it worth while for them. If they're keen to help out, I'll set up a group buy.
