Remember too your MY15 has DSC, so the slides are electronically corrected in part...

Older Defenders (like my TD5) once induced into a 4 wheel drift could prove most entertaining

What Defenders have you driven that struggle to reach 100km/h?

What have they changed on the Puma that makes it handle so much better at 100km/h compared to these other Defenders that you have driven?

The TDCi does everything better, you can come on here and start talking **** about electrics,P38 diff's etc as much as you like but the TDCi is just better. My eldest sister drove the Great Central in mine and I had to slow her down as she felt completely confident in it even though she had no prior experience, the TDCi holds the road better than any Tdi/Td5 I've ever driven. PAT303 was pretty clear and eloquent. I will only ask whether you have spent much time at speeds over 100kmh in a TDCi? And point to your own tag line:

Spent plenty of time in a 2.2 Puma.

You were very specific. Pat hasnt answered any question I asked and I didnt direct the questions fo Pat.. You can still have a go at answering them though.

What defender struggles to do 100kmh and what makes a Puma so much better at that speed? You mentioned white knuckles and the need for tuning...

You said it, I'm just asking for more info.

My tag line applies to all Defenders. They aren't Porches, not even the 2.2. Tag line is also a play on a well known phrase associated with Land Rovers.

I agree wholeheartedly that the 2.2 is a great machine. Id have one. I could buy one now but I like my 300tdi and dont want to change. Im not debating which defender is best, I like them all, I'm just asking you to expand on your very specific comments. I'm not aware of a Defender that cant do 100 and the 2.2 I drove didnt handle any better or worse at that speed than mine did. Neither is or was a white knuckle experience.

Actually I was far from specific.

    Here is what I wrote:
"A lot of people don't yet realize how well the TDCis go well above 100kmh. I suppose it's people used to Defenders barely capable of reaching 100kmh and if tuned to get there - it's white knuckles and fear time!"

    1. I made a statement
"A lot of people don't yet realize how well the TDCis go well above 100kmh."

Are you challenging the validity of this statement? I doubt that it will be easy to prove or disprove. I have no stats to fall back on. I doubt any reader would be under any delusion that the statement is no more than an opinion. Would you have stats to disprove it? Wouldn't think so. So it is what it is. Hardly worth debating. I don't think it is insulting to any people group or vehicle. Has it upset you?

    2. I made a supposition (it even starts with the words "I suppose..."):
"I suppose it's people used to Defenders barely capable of reaching 100kmh and if tuned to get there - it's white knuckles and fear time!"

A supposition by definition is "an uncertain belief"

So let me rephrase what I wrote to make meaning clearer. Not change the meaning. Just make it clearer:
It is my "uncertain belief" that some people, those who have experience with landies that are scary at 100kmh if indeed they can get to that speed in stock tune, may be those who do not yet realise how well TDCis go at speeds well over 100kmh.

Are you in that group of people? (I think not as you have indicated you have driven TDCis at speed and TDx's at speed and not been scared)

Are you offended that, if such people/vehicles even exist, they have been unfairly treated?

Do you know if such a group of people/vehicles do exist? (Those who have experienced landys being scary at over 100kmh). That would change my "uncertain belief" that they do.

    Are we still excited?

This needs to be settled with a drag race. Racing for slips.
Ask any racer. Any real racer. It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning.
