Thread: Puma headlight bulb longevity question

I dont think head light bulb problems are restricted to landies. After a few trips to Brissy and back, mostly at night/dusk I am amazed at the numbers of late model vechiles with 1 headlight! I am still on the originals in the disco and the tdi defender, so am wondering about the quality of new bulbs. The cooling theory may have some relevence there.

I can remember I had a nearside head light globe go on low beam , Brought a new globe from the local Repco . Fitted It making sure never touched It with my fingers , used tissue . It cost $16.00 Bosh so good make . It lasted about a week ! Went back and told the sales guy . Said expect more than a week , as he said we don't give warranty on globes . That's fair enough but they should do better than that . I brought a second globe , another $16.00 Now that one has lasted quite a few years , so figure that one out ? Luck of the draw I suppose !!..
