    Puma headlight bulb longevity question

I had two headlight bulbs gone in two years since I bought my defender (2013 model).
    I doubt this is normal.
Just to clarify, I always use my headlights during the day for visibility reasons and off course this will reduce life.

Would the fact that there is hardly any decent water sealing at the connector to the reflector, will be the reason or something else?

Can any one shed some light on this.

    Cheers

I can't answer your question but I've been happy with my Trucklite phase 7 headlights. I reckon they're worth the money.

    Hi
    2009 D130 bulbs still ok at 60,000km.
I don't drive much at night though.
    Cheers

Check the connectors and earth points are tight, use quality globes also.
I've fitted DRL(daylight running lights) and a traxside kit, the switch's/wiring are a known long term issue.

I work for a fellow with a few trucks.
All the ones that go out of a night blow a globe about every 6 months.
I've put it down to bad connections, vibrations and lack of air movement not allowing cooling(when loading/unloading).
Higher wattage globes seem to blow quicker also.
We now run standard globes and adjust the lights for best use.
    Cheers, Kyle

I just replaced both today with this Philips, was on special today at supecheap auto. These are supposed to last a bit longer.

I also just received traxide kit and I am struggling to find a spot to attach the relay on the passenger side of vehicle. Any recommendations will also be appreciated.

    Thanks for your comments

A few folk have made brackets up for the relay/s.
Some mount it near the horn or of the fresh air intake area brackets.
I've read of some tucking it behind the LH headlamp but access to the fuse may need the headlamp removed.

I've got mine on the right on a bracket under the guard using existing bolts near my snow cone.
    Cheers, Kyle

My headlight globes are, as far as I'm aware at least, still the originals in a 2009 130. I recently replaced a headlamp that was broken and has been half-full of water for 2 years, the globe is still going strong in the new headlamp.

I looked at the heater air intake previously and that's definitely a good possibility.

This is where I put mine. As said before, easy access to fuses if needed.
