Defender Back door clearance with Trailer / Caravan

					Hi People,

Apologies as I am sure this has been covered - but just ticking of a check box before I go out and test drive a 110.

If I buy a 110 - can I hitch a caravan or trailer and open the back door whilst hitched?

 Cheers,
 Col.

I don't have problem when we have our Tvan hitched up.
I have full access to the rear internal drawer also.

The door does hit the handle for the brakes on a car trailer I have been using of late.
It only touches by @30mm, it wouldn't be hard to trim the handle down.

When you do the test drive take a tape measure.
Grab the height of doors lower edge from the ground and the distance when open from the tow ball.
Then compare them once home to the van.

Too many factors in such a question...

 - Type of Hitch
- Height of Draw bar / Tongue
- Length of draw bar
- Angle parked

 The general answer - Yes...

I have a cub Daintree off road camper and I had to extend the A frame by 200mm to stop the door hitting the stone guard, although if I stopped in the right position, dead straight or a little left hand down it would just clear if the ground was level. So the best way was to extend the A frame.
 Lindsay.

					Hi

If you have an existing trailer/van then you may need to extend the draw bar. Had to do that for the boat trailer when I had the Disco. Door wouldn't clear the bow, never mind the winch and stuff. Was an "easy fit" with the Defender.

However, if purchasing van or trailer, you would need to specify "long" draw-bar for likes of Defender, Disco , Pajero and any of the others with a large swing barn door.

 Cheers

 Rick F
